No Fear Gardening

Have you heard of No Fear Gardening? It's an idea I came up with a few years back to dispel a few myths about gardening and have a relaxed, chilled out monthly meet up for anyone interested, new or experienced, in fuss free gardening.

We need to take the fear out of gardening for those who think there is something to be scared of! Like...'what if I kill that lavender?' or ' what if my carrots don't grow'? Shock horror! We have ALL been there. Gardening is a life long process of learning and growing. Let's face it - gardeners love to talk about gardening so the idea of No Fear is to bring everyone together to just learn fun, horticultural stuff.

We hold a meeting in Norwich each month, from pubs to galleries to garden visits and gin tasting with a botanical twist. I try to make every meet up something really fun and interesting because that's exactly what gardening is.

In October 2017 we even streamed live the first EVER online gardening show #NoFearLive (search the hashtag online and you will get a feel for what it was all about) which has never been done in horticulture before. There was indeed a few giggles over the Squash and I got to smell Mr Plant Geeks hands whilst the audience tried out some edible flowers. It was a resounding success and we will no doubt be doing more of these in the future! So keep your eyes peeled, it's an exciting time for horticulture on our screens.

Coming up in 2018 so far we have Michael Perry - Mr Plant Geek debuting his Weird and Wacky Plants Tour for us at 7pm on Tuesday 30th January at the Sir Garnet Pub (there is frequently alcohol involved and by this date dry January is just about done)! Then on Wednesday 28th February we will be at The Library Restaurant collaborating with fantastic Norwich businesses, Nurtured in Norfolk and Ghost Vodka for a fun evening plus some mixology and edible flowers. Yes really - it's not all about digging up potatoes - although I do think a talk on potatoes may be coming up!

So if you fancy coming along, everyone is welcome. You don't need to know a thing about gardening. It's social, friendly and open to all. Check out the EVENTS on our Facebook page and if you know in advance that you can come to any of the events, please let us know by clicking 'going' on the FB events page or EMAIL ME. Don't worry if you can't though, we welcome anyone who just comes along on the night.

If you can't make the Norwich meet up and would like to get involved by holding a No Fear meet up near you, then get in touch HERE.

Hope to see you at a #NoFearGardening meet up soon!
