Ginger plants look so tropical and the edible roots are really quite funky looking as well! They can easily be grown in the UK adding some far off feels to your garden and some pretty strong medicinal values to your herbal remedies cupboard as well. Growing mainly in Asia, the majority of ginger in the supermarket is from India so reducing some air miles and growing your own is a great idea. While ginger has been around for thousands of years and first documented in 475BC in ancient China, it can’t be found in its true wild state because it has been adapted over the years for human consumption. Check out the full article in my monthly column for Grow Your Own Magazine and find out how to grow and harvest the wonderful Ginger.
